Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer says the new security waiting area at Ronaldsway will be built from £50 notes.

He says despite having no idea why queues for an understaffed single-machine security area at rush hour are so long, he’s sure the new improvements wil make a difference.

But after announcing the jawdropping price of upgrades at the airport, he ‘s now clarified why costs will be so high.

The project will see new scanners, staff and construction – all formed from papier mache crafted from the highest denomination notes the department can lay its hands on.
