A man from Port St Mary’s beaten his personal best by falling asleep seconds into news coverage of the Commonwealth Games.

David McNarwhal says he was genuinely interested to hear someone he’d never heard of had come 54th in a list of countries he couldn’t point to on a map.

But after just 8.4 seconds, drowsiness overcame him and he lapsed into a deep slumber.

His previous record was 10.8 seconds, set during the last Island Games.
